AWARD WINNING CHOIRS
The Junior Choirs have won a number of classes at music festivals over the years. In November 2009 they won the Senior Choir Class at the Haydn Wood Festival.
They have sung a few times on BBC 'Songs of Praise' and at the National Festival of Music for Youth; had a standing ovation at Harrogate Conference Centre from 1500 teacher delegates; made CD recordings with the HCS Senior Choir; sung with other local choirs, brass bands and orchestras; & raised the roof in many local churches and venues such as The Frontier Club in Batley.
The Junior Choirs were formed in 1986 and now comprise three sections: the Youth Choir for ages 13 to 21+, the Young Voices for ages 7 to 13 and the Chamber Choir that is currently made up of older members of the Young Voices and younger members of the Youth Choir.
The choirs perform separately or together in a variety of venues. Invitations to sing with local brass bands and other organisations give the Junior Choirs chance to sing in important concerts, for instance in Huddersfield Town Hall and St Paul’s Hall at Huddersfield University.
Choir Members are given the opportunity to perform as soloists with the Choirs.
