
Arts Council funding – Britten Sinfonia joins list of endangered species
The Britten Sinfonia – based in Cambridge and the resident orchestra of the Aldburgh festival – has joined the ranks of casualties of cuts in Arts Council and other national funding. Following hard on the heels of the blows to English National Opera, BBC Singers and BBC’s English orchestras, the orchestra needs to raise £1m to secure its survival over the next few years.
It has raised a funding appeal, supported by many of the leading names in performance and composition. You can watch their appeal video at
