MPs Join the Chorus

The Parliament Choir has joined the Chorus of complaint about the seemingly arbitrary distinction in Covid regulations between professional and amateur choral performance. MPs and Lords across parties are singing from the same hymnsheet and have written to the Prime Minister to seek a review which  would allow unpaid choirs up and down the country to rehearse inside once more, including Parliament’s own amateur choristers.

David Warburton MP (Somerset & Frome) led the charge with this letter, and told The Spectator “it’s hard not to be a bit bemused to see football fans, busy pubs, gyms and workplaces – never mind the one metre rule allowing plenty of hot air to circulate in the House of Commons itself – when choirs are standing outside, struggling to turn pages without dropping their umbrellas.”
