A double CD of Handel's Messiah, recorded in the Mozart orchestration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras.The Huddersfield Choral Society's signature piece, performed in Huddersfield Town Hall every Christmas since at least 1860. This version uses Mozart's 1787 orchestration including full woodwind and brass. Soloists Felicity Lott (soprano), Felicity Palmer (alto), Philip Langridge (tenor), Robert Lloyd (bass). Recorded at Henry Wood Hall, London, January 1988. This reissue by Signum Classics is freshly remastered by Mike Hatch.
