Congratulations, Martyn!

HCS Artistic Adviser and long time friend of the Choral, Martyn Brabbins, has won this year’s Royal Philharmonic Society’s coveted Conductor Award.

The RPS citation explained: ‘Martyn Brabbins was everywhere this year: a fortifying presence. He rode with the Valkyries at the English National Opera, conducted the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, coached conductors and composers at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and scaled Vaughan Williams’ Scott of the Antarctic with the BBC Symphony – its first-ever screening with a live orchestra. Martyn’s contribution to UK musical life is colossal.’

Congratulations, Martyn, from all of us at HCS!
