Season Ticket 26/27

Huddersfield Town Hall

30th October 2026, 7:00 pm

HCS has a motto: ‘To uphold and renew a proud tradition of choral singing’ and our 2026/27 season does just that! As you will see, we’ve got some exciting concerts coming up – so to secure your seat, buy your season ticket now.

Your season ticket includes the autumn concert, the Messiah and the spring concert. Being a season ticket holder offers a substantial saving on buying individual concert tickets and you don’t have to pay a booking fee. Most importantly, you can secure your preferred seat for the season.

We open our season on 31st October with Mendelssohn’s wonderful oratorio Elijah, conducted by our own Gregory Batsleer, and with fabulous soloists and the Royal Northern Sinfonia. First performed by HCS in 1859, it quickly became a popular mainstay of the repertoire (performed almost annually in the later decades of the nineteenth century!) and still thrills audiences today. Charlotte Corderoy, a young conductor with a stellar future, will bring a new perspective to our Messiah concert on 19th December, along with four outstanding soloists and the Orchestra of Opera North; it’s sure to be another sell-out. For our spring concert on 10th April 2027, we are delighted to welcome eminent choral director Simon Halsey to conduct a concert that will include Duruflé’s Requiem and Imogen Holst’s Three Psalms.  With Manchester Camerata and soloists from the RNCM, this is certain to be a delightful concert.

The season ticket does NOT include the Christmas or summer concerts which can be purchased separately when individual tickets go on sale.

We are incredibly proud of our mission to uphold and renew our proud tradition and it is an enormous privilege to perform to a regular and committed audience. And with the the Choral singing better than ever, we are committed to maintaining and growing that audience.

As a season ticket holder, you play a major part in funding HCS and our singers really value your loyalty and enthusiasm. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to deliver such exceptional music to our small (but mighty) corner of Yorkshire and we thank you from the bottom of our singing hearts for that!

NOTE: Season Tickets go on sale at 9 am on Tuesday 14th July

Mendelssohn: Elijah

Join HCS as it manifests its motto – ‘to uphold and renew a proud tradition …’ Few works better speak to that tradition than Mendelssohn’s great oratorio Elijah, a work that each generation of singers presents anew. Through choruses, sometimes rousing, sometimes full of pathos, and exquisite solos, Elijah tells a theatrical, operatic and dramatic story. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this masterpiece live.Booking opens at 9 am Tuesday, 15 September 2026

Handel: Messiah

Recognised as HCS’s signature piece, Messiah, is probably the most celebrated choral work – and for many, the start of Christmas proper. This year we welcome Charlotte Corderoy, a young conductor with a stellar future, to put her own stamp on the work. Charlotte is already building an international reputation and was Critics’ Circle Conductor of the Year in 2025. You won’t want to miss it.

Duruflé: Requiem & Imogen Holst: Three Psalms

For our spring concert we return to Duruflé's Requiem, an atmospheric and deeply reflective work, performed only twice by the Society, latterly in 2012. Also in the programme is Imogen Holst’s Three Psalms. HCS performed the first of these, Psalm 80, 'Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel', in November 2024 to audience delight, so we welcome the opportunity to revisit this with her settings of Psalm 56, 'Be merciful unto me, O God' and Psalm 91, 'He that dwelleth in the secret place'.

Summer Concert: Friday Night is Music Night

Friday Night Is Music Night is the world's longest-running live orchestral music radio programme – having been first broadcast in 1953. Its lynchpin is the BBC Concert Orchestra and the programmes feature many types of music, including classical, light, film, theatre, songs from the musicals, and opera and operetta. One of its biggest appeals is its unpredictable playlist, which is left unrevealed until broadcast. For that reason, we can’t tell you what the programme will be. You’ll just have to come along and find out!
